From the Green: The new blog from your favourite freelance copywriter

A collection of ramblings from my rambles on the local golf course

I'm Vicks Green, freelance senior marketing and advertising copywriter based in South Manchester. I've been writing for my own independent clients for 20 years this year, so I've decided to treat myself. This is a totally self-indulgent space for me to share my thoughts on the state of our industry, writing tips and things that feed my curious mind.

This isn't my local golf course. This is Ullswater at another one of my favourite places.

We got our first dog, a Cavalier King Charles, just before the world shut down in 2019. He was the perfect source of calm and companionship in unsteady times and cemented my love of walking. As well as hiking with friends, I walk every morning on my local golf course. It's where I have some of my best ideas and the inspiration for starting this blog.

Who should read this blog?

Anyone interested in life as a freelance copywriter, dog lovers, walkers, women's health, marketers, clients looking for new contacts and writing support. Everyone is welcome. I'm not expecting to set the world on fire with my little musings. I love to look on the bright side of life, have a giggle and not take myself too seriously. If you do too, you'll enjoy it.

How can I help you with freelance copywriting?

I'm an experienced writer who quickly gets who you are and what you're trying to achieve. I support small marketing agencies who don't employ writers full-time or need holiday and pitch cover. I also write directly for business owners who need creative support and can supply both copywriting and design.

What's my copywriting specialism?

I'd say my 'niche' is healthcare copywriting, having spent over half of my career writing for companies such as Molynlycke Healthcare, Salts Healthcare, Trio Healthcare, 3M, Lohmann and Rauscher, Thea Pharmaceuticals, Hartmann and many others. But honestly I'm comfortable in all sectors. I've written everything from TV campaigns for retailers to white papers on manufacturing.

Who is the 'Co' in Green Copy + Co?

Over the years I've met some amazing art directors, designers, copywriters and web developers. I work closely with a select few where we provide regular creative support such social media strategy, blog posts, email campaigns and newsletters. I am also connected with marketing agencies and can call on them for help with bigger projects.
